How To Make Homemade Salad Dressing

By Megan Roosevelt, Registered Dietitian Founder of

Most store bought salad dressings can contain artificial ingredients, preservatives and processed oils. The last thing we want to do is add unhealthy ingredients on top of a healthy salad! The alternative is to select a healthy store-bought salad dressing, which they do exist, yet are few and far between. The second option is to make an easy homemade dressing. I promise you, homemade salad dressing is easier than it sounds!

I have 2 easy dressing options I love when I need to dress up my greens. The first option is to simply squeeze 1⁄2 of a fresh lemon, a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of sea salt on top of a salad. This is by far the quickest and easiest salad dressing option. The next option, if you are looking for a dressing that has a little more flavor, sweetness and zip I would recommend trying my Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing. Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing

This recipe makes 4-6 servings

This salad dressing is easy to make and so delicious! The vinegar and lemon will act as a preservative, so you do not need to refrigerate this dressing, however, I do recommend that you enjoy within a week. As always, choose organic ingredients whenever possible.

3⁄4 cup olive oil

1⁄4 cup apple cider vinegar

1⁄2 fresh lemon, juiced

1 tablespoon of maple syrup

Sea salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Add all ingredients into a glass jar with a lid. Shake or whisk together to evenly combine all ingredients. Store salad dressing in a dark, cook cabinet, not the refrigerator.
