Step By Step
Step 1: Beginning at the front side of the head, grab a small section and split into two strands.
Step 2: Grab a small subsection from the outside of the right section. Cross that strand under and combine it to the left section. Repeat this step from the left section back over to the right.
Step 3: Once you have completed that process once, move back to the right section. Grab a strand from the outside of that section, but this time add a small amount of hair from the rest of the head into that strand. Cross that underneath right section and add it to the left. Repeat on the left side.
Step 4: Continue this process down and around the front part of your hairline- creating a headband effect. Finish the braid with a regular fishtail technique.
Step 5: Starting from the bottom of the braid, begin to “stretch the braid.” Pulling from one side to the other to make the braid appear much larger.
Step 6: Secure braid with either a bobby pin or hair pin.
And there you have it.. A Dutch Fishtail Headband!
