Get Fit: Sexy Arms for that Little Black Dress

With spring here, it’s finally warming up outside. This means two things. One, you can FINALLY pull that sexy little black dress out from the back of your closet for date night, and two… time to tone up those arms! Here’s a quick arm routine to amp up those workouts, and get the arms you’ve always wanted. If working out at home is what works best for you, I would suggest getting adjustable weights (so that as you build up your strength, you can increase the weight) or a set of 5-10 lbs.
Ok, let’s get started! If you are sticking with light weights, for each exercise do as many reps as you can in 30 seconds. If you are going a bit heavier, do about 12-15 reps per exercise. Make it your goal to perform four rounds of this circuit.
Bicep curls to overhead press: With feet shoulder width apart, start with arms by your side and palms facing up. Curl the weights up to your shoulders and then press over your head, rotating your palms so that they are facing each other.
Tricep dips: Face away from a chair or sturdy coffee table. Place your hands on the chair/coffee table palms down shoulder or hip width apart. Bring your legs straight out in front of you. For an easier variation, you can keep them slightly bent. Lower your body towards the ground, arms bending to about 90 degrees, and then come back up to straighten them.
Dumbbell front to side raise: With weights in your hands, start with palms facing your body at your side. Raise your arms, so that they are parallel to the ground, and then bring both arms forward so that they are directly in front of your body with palms still facing down. Lower arms and repeat.
Tricep push-ups: Get in a regular push-up position. The difference here is that you want your pointer fingers and thumbs touching, forming a diamond with your hands. You want your arms to be even with the middle of your chest. When you lower your body into the push-up, make sure to keep your elbows close to your body. For an easier variation, rest your knees on the ground while performing this exercise.
Remember, just give this your best effort and push yourself! You’re capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for! Now go kick this workout in the butt and bring on the heat!
