Des’s Birthday Celebration in Mexico!
April 16, 2015
It is official! As of last Wednesday I am now one year older. To celebrate such an occasion we packed our bags and headed to Mexico to soak up the sun. I’m a sucker for beach days and tropical drinks so making our way to Generations Riviera Maya was the perfect way to ring in a great birthday!
Chris and I just had our romantic honeymoon in Hawaii (read about it HERE), so for this trip I knew I wanted to bring along a friend to celebrate with. My best friend Tanya and her husband joined us on this trip, and it was the perfect birthday treat since I don’t get to see her often enough living in different states. It’s also nice to enjoy some girl time once in awhile while the guys can bro out and talk about sports or whatever else guys like to talk about. 😉
I always anticipate and enjoy packing for these types of trips. I can pretty much fit everything in a carry on and get to pack all of my favorite summertime wardrobe staples for a tropical adventure! All of my Mexico Must Haves can be found below. You can’t start a trip without the proper attire!
Now let me tell you about our incredible trip!
Living in Seattle, Chris and I both don’t get much sun so the sound of Mexico was beyond enticing. I have never gone all out for my birthday before, so I couldn’t wait to take in the sun and frolic on the beach for my big 2-9.
Since Generations Riviera Maya is an all-inclusive resort, we took in all it had to offer and then some. We enjoyed laying by the beach, relaxing in a daybed, playing in the pool (with a swim up bar), trying out all of the restaurants and creating new memories with love and laughter. It was a birthday I will never forget!
The room alone was spectacular with a private pool area, Jacuzzi, dining area, outdoor + indoor shower, butler service and a comfortable setting that allowed us to relax and enjoy our time. We made sure to change up our activities each day and just go with the flow.
The resort offers so much to do that we were never bored. If we wanted to relax, we went to the beach. If we wanted to mingle with others, we went to the swim up bar. If we wanted to get our tan on, we laid by the pool.
The guys were even able to play a game of basketball and volleyball with the youngsters that were there for Spring Break. Generations was a great resort for all generations and really has something for everyone to enjoy. I was very impressed by the options and variety. If you have kids then this is also a great resort to check out because each day they had new activities set up and a play place that looked like a dreamland for kids.
Our trip to Mexico was everything I could have ever asked for and more. The company I was with, the memories made, and the tan (I wish I could keep forever) are all priceless and will be forever cherished. I do hope that you get the opportunity to make it to Mexico sometime soon and if you do, I highly recommend Generations Riviera Maya Resort or El Dorado Royale for your stay.
Until my next adventure… Happy Travels!
