One thing I have learned in my years of dating and being engaged is that date nights are a must! No matter the location, season, or circumstance there is always a way to have fun with your significant other without breaking the bank or letting the weather get the best of your plans.

Here are a few ideas for date nights during these colder months to get close and cozy with your love.

1.) Grab a blanket and head to your favorite lookout spot. It could be a secluded beach to watch the waves, a trail that you love, a view of the city, a park, or a special place to just enjoy being next to each other.

2.) Grab your favorite books and head to a coffee shop, location with a fireplace or lounge area. Switch books to see what the other is interested in and learn more about your partner. It is the simple, quiet moments that create a closeness in a relationship.

3.) Place all of your love’s favorite items into a bag and surprise him/her with a picnic in a romantic location. Take some blankets and lay down when it gets dark to watch the stars together.

4.) Getting a warm drink together is always a fun thing to do in colder weather. My favorite is hot apple cider! Maybe take a walk with that warm drink in hand.

5.) Check out your local paper or website for a listing of events in your area. You may be surprised by the fun activities for a date night such as plays, parades, farmer markets, and concerts.

6.) Explore your hometown together. If you live in different areas then this is a must in order to show the other your town. A great idea is to get appetizers at one location, dinner at another and then dessert at one of your favorite places so that it feels like 3 dates in 1.
