Almost four years ago, I moved to Seattle, sight unseen, to be with the love of my life. Ever since, I have enjoyed every second of this eclectic, vibrant and beautiful city and now I get to share it with you!
Seattle is a diamond in the rough, a gem that offers much more than rainy days and great coffee. I had no idea what to expect when I moved here from sunny Southern California but I quickly learned that there is so much to see, explore, and enjoy. There are so many different nooks and crannies in this city, with so many neighborhoods offering their own character and charm. One of the neighborhoods we love to hang out in the most is Ballard.
With many award winning restaurants, adorable shops, and scenic views, Ballard is a definite must when visiting Seattle. Below I’m sharing my day in this up and coming town and where to go when you visit.
You can’t visit Seattle without enjoying a good ole cup of Joe. There are a thousand Starbucks spread out all over the city and then another thousand other coffee shops to add to the unlimited supply of lattes to choose from. With that said, a day in Ballard wouldn’t be the same without starting it off at Cafe Umbria for your coffee drink of choice before setting out for the day’s adventures.
Once the caffeine sets in then you will be ready for the day’s agenda with my tour guide below.
Ballard Avenue: Browse the many shops, like Lucca, along this partly cobble stone road.
Ballard Locks : A fun tourist spot to check out where and how the boats and ships enter into Lake Union from the Sound.
Golden Gardens : One of my favorite places to relax and reflect. Walk the beach and take in the mountain view.
Ray’s Boathouse : Stop off at this iconic restaurant for their Clam Chowder (It’s the Best!)
Bastille’s Back Bar : Grab a pre-drink or appetizers at The Back Bar of Bastille Cafe & Bar. It’s a secret gem with a fun atmosphere.
San Fermo: Enjoy a fabulous and romantic dinner with the best homemade pasta in the city! This has quickly become one of our favorite date spots.
D’Ambrosio Gelateria : Italian gelato
Hot Cakes: Famous molten chocolate cakes
- Percy’s for apothecary inspired cocktails
- The Matador for mexican
- Walrus and The Carpenter for oysters
- Staple and Fancy for a chef curated dinner
- Ballard Inn for a luxurious stay
Follow my Ballard tour guide and you’ll enjoy all of our favorite spots while making memories of your own! Next up.. a romantic stroll in Magnolia.
