If you were to google ‘paradise’, I’m pretty sure our latest adventure in Hawaii would pop up! Maui is an island meant for romance, relaxation and celebration. The palm trees, bright sunshine, vast ocean and sights to see are just a a few of the reasons why we will always remember our one year anniversary getaway to Maui.
We wanted to celebrate our one year in a place we could take a break from the rain here in Seattle and enjoy each other’s company in a romantic setting. Since we went to Oahu and Kauai for our honeymoon a year ago, we figured we would let Hawaii show us around another one of its’ beautiful islands. From much needed sun bathing by the pool to long walks on the beach and whale watching, our week was one of the most incredible trips we’ve ever taken. Read on to experience it all over again with us. 🙂
It all started with our spacious and comfortable room at The Westin Ka’anapali. Since this resort is also a vacation ownership property, each suite has it’s own kitchenette, dining and living area along with a comfortable bedroom and bathroom to welcome you into your new tropical home for the week. With all of these amenities there is no reason to leave! Not to mention the pools, hot tub, spa and beach just steps away makes this a place you’ll always want to stay.
We spent the first few days soaking in the sun by the pool and taking long walks on the beach while enjoying every meal The Westin Ka’anapali had to offer at three of it’s restaurants. With hearts and stomachs full, we adventured out to snorkel and swim with turtles and fish that were just a few yards out from the resort’s shore. Each day brought something new and the time with Chris was so special.
Since our anniversary trip coincided with Valentine’s Day, we enjoyed one of the best dinners of our lives from the italian restaurant, Pulehu. The setting was perfect with the sunset creating a lovely picture right before our table. The private and intimate setting really set the tone right for a special memory and moment that will last a lifetime. What a beautiful location for any celebration, proposal or wedding! It was a dream come true to celebrate a meaningful day in such a romantic way.
There’s no better way to feel more relaxed on vacation than with a Polynesian Ritual massage from the resort’s spa, Spa Helani. It was divine euphoria coming out of that massage feeling more relaxed and rejuvenated than I ever had before. It was a much needed luxury for our bodies and I’m already waiting for the day I can go back and experience it all over again!
Ok, so if you like to be one with nature then whale watching in Maui is for you! We were able to watch whales breach from the shore of the resort but seeing them up close and personal in their natural habitat was one of the most thrilling sights we’ve ever experienced. Definitely check out Captain Steve’s in Lahaina for your whale watching excursion. They were absolutely the best! Watch how close we got in this video here.. WHALE BREACH.
The sunsets on the beach were my favorite as they slowly turned from baby blue to lavender to peach in the most beautiful and artistic way. Watching Chris walk in front of me on the beach wasn’t too bad at all either. 🙂 <3 <3
Overall, Maui and The Westin Ka’anapali surpassed all of our expectations and will be a place we will cherish (and come back to) for years to come!
