Summer Hair Color Trends // What’s Right For You!?

Choosing the Right Hair Color

Balayage, Ombre, Sombre, Babylights, Bronde, Rooty, or simply Khloe Kardashians hair color… all of these terms pretty much describe the hair color trends for Summer 2015. So many to choose from, but what is the difference between them all? This week we are taking a break from the tutorials and giving you a breakdown on how to choose the perfect summer hair color for you!

The color of our hair is constantly a battle, especially finding the color that is right for your own skin tone. There are many different tones when it comes to hair color, and it is extremely important to understand the difference between them all. Often times, the tone of hair might be the only thing effecting why you don’t love your hair color or why it is not flattering on you. Determining whether you like warmer tones or cooler tones will help a lot when deciding what your color inspiration will be this summer!

Once you have determined what tone you like best, and what works best with your skin tone, the next step is determing what coloring technique you like best. Below is a breakdown on the different Summer Hair Color trend techniques!

Balayage: Balayage is a French coloring technique. It’s a freehand technique where the color is applied by hand rather than using the traditional highlighting techniques. It allows for a sun-kissed natural looking hair – similar to what the sun does to our hair as children. Balayage is a much softer look than ombre. It gives more of a blended look and less noticeable regrowth lines. Perfect for those who hate a lot of maintenance with your hair!

Sombre: Sombre is just like how it sounds- a softer take on the ombre! It incorporates the dark roots with the light ends, but in a much less drastic way. You won’t be seeing the black roots into the platinum blonde ends much anymore. This is the perfect technique if you still love the ombre, but don’t want to worry about having too much of a contrast!

Babylights: Babylights are delicate highlights created using a very fine hair color technique. These highlights are meant to mimic the natural highlights achieved from the sun, or better yet the highlights that we see in childrens hair. Babylights are great for those who do not like the look of stripey highlights. Or for those who want highlights, but don’t want to deal with the drastic line of regrowth once the highlights start growing. They are meant to naturally brighten up your hair color, but are not a dramatic effect. Babylights & Balayage are two techniques that are often used together. This technique is definitely the #1 hair coloring method for Summer 2015.
