If you are on social media then I’m sure that you have seen before and after photos of contouring. Contouring is EVERYWHERE!
If you have seen these photos then you have seen how magical it can be. It is pretty remarkable how makeup has the ability to create these illusions. Some men may get angry because they think women are deceiving them when they transform their faces with makeup, but this isn’t about them. This is about us feeling fabulous. Haha! 😉
Contouring truly has the power to change the look of your face and to add depth and dimension. High cheekbones, a slimmer face, a straight nose, ect. These are all things that you can achieve with contouring and I am all about that!
So before you go to the store and purchase a huge contour set, I want you to watch my video and see the products that I use. Really, all you need is a dark cream concealer or powder, and the rest you most likely already have in your makeup drawer.
See the products below that are used in the video and follow along:
BEAUTY BLENDER // DELUXE FAN BRUSH // TAPERED BLUSH BRUSH // CONCEALER BRUSH // TARTE CREASELESS CONCEALER // MAC CONCEAL & CORRECT PALETTE // WATERPROOF CONCEALER STICK // FOUNDATION // HIGHLIGHTER // BRONZER // MAC BLUSH
The dark concealer or powder will make the places you apply it appear smaller or more sunken in. Keep this in mind when you are thinking about placement on your specific face, and also what you would like to contour. See the examples below for reference.
After I contour, I usually apply a highlighter on the “high” points on my face (cheekbones, bridge of my nose, cupids bow, brow bone) My more mature women (40+) need to stay away from super glittery or shimmery highlighters because these products will age you. Instead of highlighter, sometimes a light concealer is sufficient, or just a touch of my MAC Soft & Gentle highlighter (above) will do the trick.
I hope you all like the video and feel free to comment or message me if you have questions on how to contour your own face! Follow on Instagram @CassandraFergie and be sure to check out the different face shapes below for placement of contouring
