Rice Krispie Christmas Trees

Just like going out on a cold winter morning to cut down a fresh Christmas tree, these Rice Krispie trees are cut out with cookie cutters and planted in a Reese’s peanut butter cup, then covered in green sprinkles and topped with a single candy star to resemble a real tree.
Makes 15 to 18 treats
INGREDIENTS
VEGETABLE SPRAY
3 TABLESPOONS (42 G) BUTTER OR MARGARINE
1 (10-OUNCE [280 G]) PACKAGE MINI MARSHMALLOWS (4 CUPS)
AMERICOLOR GREEN SOFT GEL PAST COLOR
6 CUPS (150 G) RICE KRISPIES CEREAL
2 CUPS GREEN SPRINKLES
15 TO 18 MINIATURE REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS, UNWRAPPED
1?2 CUP (104 G) GREEN CANDY MELTS
15 TO 18 TEENY YELLOW STAR CANDY

YOU WILL NEED
9×13-INCH (23×33 CM) BAKING PAN OR CASSEROLE DISH

DIRECTIONS
1. Lightly oil or spray the 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan with vegetable spray.
2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter or. Add the marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth. Remove the pan from the heat and add green food coloring to get the desired shade of green.
3. Add the Rice Krispies and stir until completely coated. Pat into the prepared baking pan and let cool completely to set. Once set, cut out tree shapes using the triangle cookie cutter.
4. Dip the Rice Krispie treats in the green sprinkles and lay flat on waxed paper.
5. Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments at 40% power for about 1 minute, stirring as needed until smooth.
6. Use a dab of melted candy to adhere the tree to the top of the peanut butter cup.
7. Add a yellow star sprinkle to the top of the tree with a spot of melted candy, and
voilà—Rice Krispie trees!
