Burn Calories {Cycle}

Before I had any inclination that I would be going onto a popular reality TV show, I was single, working 50 hours a week, and spending my ‘downtime’ at the gym cycling myself into shape. I had moved to LA about 9 months prior from OC and didn’t know many people. Luckily I did live with a close friend that also happened to be near a gym. I had nothing better to do than to go to work and go workout! hah.

The discipline of going to spin class whenever I could really jump started my energy, motivation and overall physique. I felt incredible and the best I had in years. Of course the show came and left and with that time away the discipline from spin class unfortunately left also. Since the cardio from spin class worked so well for me though, I do plan to get back on that seat, to cycle my way into shape. I challenge you to do the same.

Cycling is a great workout for your hamstrings, on the back of your thighs, and your quadriceps, on the front, top of your legs since they work in conjunction to pedal the bike. It also firms up the tush for a J-lo -esque booty. It did wonders for my quads and is one of the only workouts that started to trim my legs. If you are looking to tone more of your arms or back then riding your bike outdoors will be more beneficial since it does take more balance (than stationary bikes) and targets those areas. Overall, cycling is an amazing workout that is fun, challenging and will keep you coming back for more.

In the summer, I do enjoy biking on trails and think that is the best way to enjoy the outdoors and workout at the same time. However, I don’t currently own a bike so I will stick to the good ol’ gym for indoor cycling and I can’t wait to start. Almost every franchise gym such as 24 hr and LA Fitness will have a schedule set for when spin class takes place. Ask the front desk for a print out or head to their website for more information. You won’t regret it!
