Right Dress for Your Shape

A perfectly fitted gown can make all of the difference on your wedding day. Find out what silhouettes will work for your shape below and don’t be afraid to try on the different silhouettes until you find what you feel the best in.

If you are {SQUARE (BOY) SHAPE}

If you have the Cameron Diaz shape without a definite natural waistline and narrow hips, then a ball gown is a great choice. A ball gown will give you a cinched waistline and hour glass figure.

If you are {PEAR SHAPE}

Modified A-line silhouettes work well with this shape because it shows off the small of the waist and slims the hips. The A-line that starts right below the hips hides the fullest part and creates a flattering shape.MAG1

If you are {APPLE SHAPE}

Drop waist styles are very flattering on brides with an apple shape. The drop waist slims and elongates the waist for a clean, streamline look. Diagonal gathering across the waist also does wonders for the mid section and is extremely flattering for the figure.maggie2

If you are {THIN}

Sheath type gowns that consist of just a silky lining are hard to wear for many shapes because the lack of construction in them. The one layer of lining is lightweight and offers comfort but also lays close to the figure and wears nicely on thin brides, like the Tuscany gown below.MAG3

If you are {TALL}

Trumpet or mermaid gowns that have a seam at the knee where the drama begins look great on tall brides because the proportion stays accurate from waist to hem. This style tends to cut the shape off with the break at the knee and can visually make a bride look shorter.maggie

If you are {SHORT}

Streamline gowns that don’t have a horizontal break in them will be best for a shorter bride. Straps and beading at the neckline will also lend in creating a taller silhouette. mag4

If you are {CURVY}

If you have curves then I recommend showing them off! I have found that fit and flare silhouettes with gathering, beading, or a belt at the waist creates the perfect shape for brides with curves. mag6
